No Redeeming Social Value

This is an interview I did via email with Dean of NRSV.  Their latest CD EP is some excellent hardcore.

NRSV have a lot to say in their songs and mostly get their message across with humor.
Check out this interview!!!!

Wasteland:  How much Olde E have you drank today so far?

Dean NRSV:  Well none today yet- it's only 12 noon -  but I had 2 40's last night at band practice, so my tank is still full from that.

WL:  Your new CD sounds great! Where did you record it? Who produced it?

NRSV:  Thanks, I'm glad you dig the new stuff. We recorded that CD at a little known, but great studio in Astoria Queens called Libra D.  It was produced and engineered by our good friend Noah Evans.  He's been involved w/ many of our recordings over the years.  He knows our sound and he's a good friend and a top quality studio man.

WL  What's the difference between Olde E and New E?

NRSV:  Well OLDE-E is the OLDE formula of OLDE-E.  NEW-E is the new version of the same OLDE , OLDE-E formula.  So OLDE-E is still OLDE-E, but it's also NEW-E, too.  Basically, OLDE-E, NEW-E, get it???  There's a riddle in there too, i think??!

WL:  You told me you're making a video for the track Olde E Fever. What will this be like and who's putting it together?

NRSV:  Yes, NRSV is making a Video, yo.  Tell all the non-believers out there!  We've making a video for OLDE-E Fever which is on our new Ep.  The video is gonna appear on our forthcoming DVD on www.sadisticrecords.com  .  As we usually do, we'll be putting it together ourselves with a little help from our friends- so it's sure to be the bomb.  You can see a trailer for our DVD at www.nrsv.com

WL:  What does a groupie have to do, to get a piece of your axe?

NRSV:  Blowjobs work fine!

WL:  Is it just me, or does METAL RULE!?!?!?

NRSV:  Yeah man, metal does rule.  Heavy tunes kick ass and anyone that doesn't think so, should go back to the fuckin fifties.  In the course of my life I've met a lot of people.  I've come to learn that those that don't like Metal should fuckin' DIE!!!  Death to false Metal!!!

WL:  There are lots of preachy bands out there.  I heard a guy in an interview recently, from a well known non-hardcore band, preaching about "living positive." Now I know this fucker. He's the most drugged out, drunken fight startin' bastard I've ever seen. The only living he's doing that's positive, is if he got a drug test - since his ass would be positive for every fuckin' drug known to man! ha ha ha What do you think of hypocrites in the music scene who preach to people about not living right, when they're all fucked up themselves?

NRSV:  Well, to each his own, i guess!  That's pretty much how I'm livin'.  I really don't give a rats ass for anyone else's opinion of how I live or what I do.  As one of our new songs ("Your Opinion") goes..."That's your opinion, but we enjoy life, It's our decision, how we live life."  nuff said on that.

WL:  What exactly does the act of "Rockin' The Party" consist of?

NRSV:  Beer drinking, ass grabbin, L-puffin, OLDE-E drinking, Sk8boardin', whore-pokin, vulgar speakin', mind-twistin', you get the idea.....come to a NRSV show and you'll get the picture.

WL:  What's one of the best parties you've ever rocked?

NRSV:  A frat. house in Brooklyn near Pratt Univ.  It was several years ago.....man that shit was a crazy party...anyone that's still living and was there will tell you that NRSV truly ROCKED THE PARTY.    That's were we got the inspiration for that album.

WL:  Your CD is out on Fuzzy Bunny Media;  Is Fuzzy Bunny your own label?

NRSV:  Yes, our new Ep is out on Fuzzy Bunny.  www.fuzzbunny.com  . No, it's not our own label, it's a label outta Maryland.  Good friends of ours.  You can get that CD on www.nrsv.com

WL: The Beatles have stated that they were influenced by Acid while recording The White Album - what was NRSV influenced by when recording the latest CD?

NRSV:  That's obvious - OLDE ENGLISH '800' MALT LIQUOR baby!!!

WL:  Has Olde E ever approached NRSV about becoming spokesman for the brand? You know, like Ice Cube did for St. Ides a while back..

NRSV:  Yeah, we're the official Olde-E poster band.  Full sponsorship and all.  Check out our stage show and you'll see what i mean.  Olde-E sponsors all of our live performances.  God bless OLDE-E.

WL:  Have you ever checked out http://www.metal-sludge.com/

NRSV:  Haven't yet, but I'm headed there after this interview - thanks for the tip.  Up the irons!!!!

WL:  Will NRSV be doing any touring?
