Hummer - 2008

10-26-08

1. Peace in the Middle East! For those of you who don't know, I am currently deployed to the Middle East.
You can imagine that I am very busy here.  What's it like?  Watch the news, check out the military channel, or
watch some war footage on Youtube and you have a fairly god idea of what it is like here.  The reality is
somewhat different, but once you're here, telling war stories just seems kind of lame.  For every exciting,
moment, there is a whole lot of downtime; hours and hours of anxious boredom.
You never know what something is like until you live it.

2.  The Kincaid CD is done and released.  Wendigo has eight tracks of metal/core served up
NJ style.  Hard, crunchy, rough and evil. Need I saw more?  I wrote the music for the tracks on the
disc and laying those down was a very fulfilling experience for me after having written those songs
over the course a couple years.  Jesse added some wicked lyrics and there you have it; Wendigo.
The CD is available at www.cdbaby.com

3.  I also put out the original 1995 Faction Zero recording and included two unreleased tracks from Rob
and Dave's Gore Core / prime Directive days; Forced Hatred and The Rejected.
This is the original FZ stuff from when we started.  There are also 1993 demo recordings; but I've never
really liked those.  I think I'm just going to throw those up on the web at some point along with the
three Deranged (my first band) demos from the mid 80s.  Always wanted to re-do that second Deranged
recording... hmmm who knows?  Anyway Faction  Zero s/t disc is available at
www.cdbaby.com  The FZ anthology idea was just too big... I wanted to get this music out before I left
for the deployment.

6-16-08:

It has been a while since I updated this news section.  So here ya go...

1.  Kincaid "Wendigo" CD (FZR 009)
will be out in July 2008.  8 tracks tracks of metalcore straight
outta Jerz!  Former members of Faction Zero, Nola, 25 Ta Life and Killed By Memories.
I produced the CD; it sounds awesome.  Take a listen at www.myspace.com/kincaidnj

2.  Faction Zero CD!  (FZR 008) yes, I finally did it.  I put the 1995 demo / 7" tracks and two
unreleased tracks onto CD.  It is self-titled and will be out in July also.
This is the classic FZ demo recorded at the Mutiny Zoo in Hoboken in 1995.
I always liked this one better than the Liberation CD.  Pick yourself up
a copy when it comes out.  As always, Faction Zero isn't dead, just on life support.
Hiope to play some shows wiht the original lineup when I get back... which brings me to
my next item:

3.  I will be deployed with the NJ Army National Guard to Iraq
until next year at the earliest.
I've decided to shut down FZR mail-order until that time.  Distro will still be available,
if interested, email me at fact0@msn.com  Support the scene, but also support the troops.
No matter how ya feel about the war, remember its guys like me fighting it.

4. Looks like I will have some down-time while there.  So I will try to update the FZR
and Wasteland Zine sites when I can.

-Plans for 2008 for FZR:

The Faction Zero anthology.
Liberation, 1995 demo, 1993 demo, and a couple unreleased tracks.
Or I might release the 1995 demo (as released on the Division Records 7"s) with some unreleased tracks
as a stand alone.

Kincaid:
This was going to be a demo, but I've decided to put it out as a stand alone CD/EP.
This release should be done shortly and sounds really friggin' good.

- For anybody that is interested, I've completed my Masters degree.  Three years of Weds nights? Yea. Glad its over.
For all of you out there who complain about being powerless; go to school.  Educate yourself.  Education is the only
true path to power.  Politicians, governmental agencies and corporations, all large entities with power over your lives,
the majority of their decisions have roots in academic theory or research. Educate yourselves.  Your mind is the best weapon you have.

- Well, Five Points kind of never got off the ground.  It was off to a decent start, but as usual, personal problems
of band members and other responsibilities got in the way.

- Kincaid is moving along.  The CD / demo will be out in early 2008.

-Next project is definitely a re-release of the older Faction Zero material.  Liberation, and the 1995 and 1993 demos, all
on one disc.  I might throw some unreleased stuff on there as well.

-FZR has two tracks on the latest
BTB comp - Down for the Core part 7.   A Kincaid track, Cathartic Suicide  and a Faction Zero tune off
of War Stories.

-I am putting the Killed By Memories CD up on ITunes.

Yes, FZR is still alive.  I was away ion the Army for over five months.  I got back in late May, then
almost immediately started a new position at my job in South Jersey. So in the space of a month
I had to move, start a new job, get a new car (cause my lease was up!).  Whew! I've been busy.
Now I'm starting to settle in and I plan on doing more stuff with FZR and Wasteland.

As far as my own music goes, Kincaid and Faction Zero continue at a snail's pace.
What can I say? It is what it is! lol.

More news soon.

Note: As you can see I have archived the old news items.  If you want to see any of that old
stuff just drop me an email.

Note:  I have moved!  So for now to reach FZR email me at fact0@msn.com thanks!
