BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF
Does this movie kick some ass or what?  A combination period piece, murder mystery, kung-fu movie
and political drama.  The cinematography is outstanding and fits this films mood well.  Washed out /
lush colors, dark hues, sharp edged lighting and mist lend this film an overall eerie motif.  The costumes
are ornate and the sets are complicated and interesting.  The fight scenes are in the vein of The Matrix,
or Crouching Tiger...   This all lends the film a otherworldly feel, as if you're viewing events in a land that is
slightly out of synch with normal existence.  The plot revolves around a secret society, a mysterious and seemingly
supernatural beast, a political plot, a faceless villain and of course the obligatory love interest.  Put it this way, the two
main characters are the Royal Taxidermist to the King Of France and his Native American medicine man
sidekick!  The movie's look falls into the vein of The Messenger and the genre in that of movies such as
Sleepy Hollow.  Like I said, this one kicks serious ass.  One of the things I really liked about it, is that
in true foreign film fashion, it does not sacrifice content for time. This lends the film a "finished" feeling, which
so many otherwise good American films wind up losing on the cutting room floor.
