Cool D&D game that borrows heavily from the Baldur's Gate series.
I would view it as an extension of Baldur's Gate. The main exception is
that this game is much tougher in the realm of puzzles to figure out
and the length of time it takes your characters to become powerful enough
not to be killed every five minutes. Challenging. Also if interest
is that this game
shares the name and general plot of an old school paper D&D "module" from the
days of your.
Ha ha ha yep, I was around back then and old enough o appreciate it.
Anyways; the graphics are outstanding, the play is
player friendly, with convenient character, combat and spell casting interfaces.
There are all of the cool monsters, traps, spells, character classes and
equipment items
which have come to typify computerized D&D games.
There are however, some annoying bugs in the area of plot continuity and
interaction
with Non Player Characters. There are certain actions, such as killing
a certain NPC, or completing a certain quest in a non-linear way, which
will effectively end the game. I've downloaded a patch from the Atari
website, which is supposed
to fix all of this nonsense and I'm going to play TOEE again in a month or so,
once
the frustration factor has worn off. Also a word of advice to those of you
with older, slower PCs which are not friendly to games; don't bother!
You will be unable to play this one on your slow ass computer.
Time for an upgrade fucko! Ha ha ha. Final verdict; bad ass D&D game!.
Hopefully
the above mentioned patch does the trick and the bugs have already
been fixed in a later version of the game.
If you like D&D, Baldur's Gate, etc... you will not want to miss this one!
