Transplants - S/T
The best thing about being a successful musician, must be that you can satisfy your creative
urges and then have someone willing to put it out on CD.  The obligatory Clash comparisons aside;
Some of this works quite well, while some of it is not to my taste.  I like Diamonds And Guns,
with its 4 Skins piano riff and Jamaican tinged vocals / toasting.  That one seems to be getting plenty
of airplay at least here in the NYC area on K ROCK.  Of course some of this sounds like Rancid out takes,
which is expected, since the band is the brainchild of Tim Armstrong.  Lots of differing styles on this disc
keep it interesting.  The affected English et al accents get a bit iffy... beside that though, this CD is pretty cool.
I've listened to it a few times already, its good for keeping on in the background.  Its also one of those
CDs that the more times you listen, the more little things jump out at you.  My other favorite songs from
this CD are One Seventeen and Down In Oakland.   Good vocals and some frantic music, infuse
the Transplants with a sense of urgent energy.  Interesting stuff, put together well. Worth buying.
